Good Science Studio is an American video game developer, owned by Krafton Pearl Abyss. It was originally founded by Microsoft in 2009 to develop Xbox 360 games for the Kinect sensor. It was wound down around 2012-2013, with only three games released by the division.
Under Good Science Studio, KPA is the new owner of the Indivisible and Skullgirls IPs, which is fitting as the studio was formed with intention to develop action games with an arcade feel.
History[]
In 2020, Krafton Pearl Abyss acqui-hired former Cranky Pants Games/Sandblast Games employees into a new studio in Kirkland, Washington. KPA also absorbed Griptonite Games into the new venture, which amounted to around 400 employees. In addition, they also acquired Autumn Games and all IPs and assets of Lab Zero Games during its liquidation, notably leaving out its founder Mike Zaimont. The publishing assets were soon merged into NC's publishing label, then-known as NC En Masse.
They also brought back the Good Science Studio trademarks from the original GSS's owner Microsoft. The name was chosen mainly due to the studio's involvement in R&D for KPA's game engine NC Dragon.
